For the serious fly fisherman who has
patience, determination and, most important, desire, this is one of the
best books you can find on building your own bamboo flyrod. Everett
Garrison is renowned for some of the most highly prized rods in the
country, and his photographs, diagrams and text clearly guide you to the
final product, from choosing the right cane down to the last coat of
varnish.

This is also the handsomest
of the three editions; its actual cover is embossed with an elegant
pictograph that is the Mandarin symbol for bamboo and it comes in a box
with a photo of Garrison at work. I'll put it this way: Reading it makes
me believe that, if I were willing to invest in the time and skills and
tools, I could actually make a bamboo flyrod. And I can just about
change the oil in my car. Stephen

Garrison's understated bamboo rods are among the most sought-out be
collectors...and among the most expensive. He built fewer than 800 in
his lifetime. This edition is beautifully executed--quality paper,
printing, blinding and slipcase. Richard
