The House the Hardy
Brothers Built
By James Leighton Hardy
The author is the last of the Hardys who worked for the great tackle
firm of international renown formed by his grandfather and great uncle
in 1872. Given access to the company's archives and records, the author
provides a complete history of the company, with all successes and
not-so-successes detailed, and arranges a variety of appendices which
provide specific information on rods and reels produced. Along with
numerous reproductions of private photographs and company ephemera, we
have here in total, a comprehensive view of perhaps the finest fishing
tackle manufacturing company in the world and the individuals who built
it.
This is a major British book production - and an enormous amount of
scholarship and effort by the author - which reads like an interesting
family history full of strong personalities, eccentrics, supremely
accomplished business managers, and talented innovators. And, in fact,
this is exactly what this is. A truly remarkable story.
